I applied for a Standard Chartered Bank credit card. But the application was rejected with this explanation: Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL) of rating not proper.

What does that mean?
I have been paying my credit card dues on time for the last two years. The Equated Monthly Instalments (EMI) payment for the personal loan also get deducted from my savings account every month. How do I find out why my credit rating has gone bad? How do I get to see my credit information report?

Raise a formal charge for disputed charges and get an acknowledgment. When you do it over the phone, there's no legal standing.

If the bank does not rule in your favour, you could complain to the banking ombudsman who has the jurisdiction over your area.
