I HELP you turn your contacts into contracts."

This catchy introduction by wealth networking expert Niiraj R Shah, merits exactly the kind of response he wants, from people he meets for the first time: "Wow! How do you do that?"

According to Niiraj, this is THE question people must ask you, when you finish introducing yourself in any social or business networking circumstance.

"If you are not from the same industry as the person you are conversing with or if you are unfamiliar with his or her designation, it could mark the end of a conversation, " he observes.

So, we invited Niiraj to interact with five working professionals from different walks of life, and tip them off on how to make a relevant and effective introduction.

The big idea: your introduction must work as a conversation starter. It must pave the way for a more useful exchange between two professionals.

Candidate 1 was Partha Srinivasan, a 27-year old account executive with Avian Media, a public relations company in Mumbai. A little about Partha.

Why he networks: To understand his industry, keep track of technology and make friends.

Online networking haunts: Professional networking sites like LinkedIn, which help him get information about prominent people and their career itineraries.

Networking bloopers: Sometimes, despite having all the information in his mind, Partha tends to stumble while framing a thought.
