wealth quizzes working professionals on how they spend their salary every month. Here's someone who thinks video games are 'edutaining', not addictive!
Name: Rajesh Raghunathan
Age: 23
What he does: Process re-engineer with a pan-European ATM processing company
Where he lives: Mumbai
RAJESH grew up in Chennai and loves playing video games. "Gaming is very interactive. A film will last for a few hours, but an average game takes over two weeks to finish. So, it's good value for money," says Rajesh.
Rajesh plays for two hours a day on weekdays and over four hours on weekends. "Since I am new to Mumbai and don't know too many people, it's a good way to chill out after work," he adds.
Does his hobby come at a pretty price? "No. PS2 (Playstation 2) is dirt cheap right now. Besides, I can afford it! Since I have very little expenses by way of basic amenities, I end up saving quite a bit."
These are his expenses:
Rs 7,990 for a Playstation 2 (PS2) console with an 8 MB memory card. He saved approximately between Rs 12,000 and Rs 22,000 by going for a PS2 instead of PS3 or XBOX 360, which are worth approximately between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.
"PS2 game graphics are not as good as that of PS3 or XBOX 360. But I can do with this for a while. I need my fix!" he explains.
As for his financial future, Rajesh has charted it out, and it is quite an organised map. He sets aside money every month, so that he can pursue an MBA at a top university in the United States. He also wants to invest in a plot of land at the right time.
